Hotel Scenting

Hotel scenting means using one signature fragrance in your lobby, corridors and guest areas, so guests connect that scent with your property. Tampa Scents supplies commercial cold-air diffusers and fragrance oils for hotels, resorts and boutique properties, and helps you choose the right setup for your spaces.

Why hotels use a signature scent

  • First impression: the lobby scent is part of the arrival experience, along with lighting, music and service.
  • Consistency: the same scent across the lobby, corridors and lifts makes the property feel cohesive and well cared for.
  • Memory: scent is closely tied to memory, so a recognizable fragrance helps guests remember their stay.
  • Freshness: a gentle scent helps busy shared areas feel clean through the day.

Where to scent in a hotel

  1. Lobby and reception: the most important zone. Start here.
  2. Corridors and lift lobbies: keep the experience consistent between the lobby and the room.
  3. Spa, gym and pool areas: fresh scents suit these spaces.
  4. Restaurant and bar entrances: keep scent subtle near food and drink.

Choosing a diffuser for your hotel

Area Example model Coverage (up to)
Boutique hotel reception P1000 1,750 sq ft
Small lobby or lounge 2000C 2,125 sq ft
Hotel floor or corridors 3000S 10,500 sq ft
Large lobby 3000C 13,125 sq ft
Resort lobby or venue 4000C 28,000 sq ft

Large or divided properties usually work best with several diffusers placed in zones. See the Diffuser Size Guide for all models.

Choosing a hotel scent

Most hotels choose a warm, upscale profile for the lobby. Our Woody and Oriental oils, built on notes such as cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver and olibanum, give that "luxury hotel" feel. Coastal and resort properties often prefer something lighter from our Fresh range. Once you choose a scent, keep it: consistency is what builds recognition.

Frequently asked questions

Can a diffuser connect to the hotel's HVAC system?

Some commercial cold-air diffusers can be connected to an HVAC system to scent through the ducts. Contact us with details of your system and we will advise which models fit.

Will the scent bother guests?

Keep the intensity low to moderate and focus on shared spaces like the lobby and corridors. A good hotel scent is noticed as pleasant, not strong.

How do we keep the scent running?

Commercial diffusers can be scheduled, and larger oil bottles (250ml and 500ml) are more practical for daily use. Keep a spare bottle of your signature scent on site.
